It has been a really busy time here at Tertulia A Bookshop Like No Other. We have had a lot of exciting events on our agenda here this month.
We had our official opening on 10th of August to great fanfare. It was so lovely to share the joy of opening with all our friends, neighbours, customers and visitors. There was fantastic food from Tia's in Louisburgh and The Creel on the Quay in Westport.
Speeches and toasts were made and a great afternoon was had by all.
The next event on our calendar was a evening of poetry and prose from India and Ireland. The evening was led by Partho from the Literary Forum. The Literary Forum is a global platform to support new talent and expression in the arts and to enable excellence across cultures, languages and media. Partho is the co-founder as well as a writer, poet and teacher of Indian philosophy and education.
The following weekend we had art and poetry with the launch of the book 'At Swim, Three Birds'. This work is about swimming, human potential, the wild Atlantic and friendship. The book has amazing illustrations by Jane Williams and poetry by Maggie O'Connor. The evening featured some fantastic music from Brian Parsons.
Finally in August our artist of the month Jane Williams showcased an exhibition of her latest works from her collection titled 'The Untethering'. This exhibition hopes to explore the true meaning of identity.
All in all, a mix of events for the month of August. Thank you to everyone who came to join us. We look forward to the Autumn and the variety of things the new season will bring.
